Our Montreal, Quebec-based client, a well-renowned organization in the health care and diagnostics sector. The VP will manage and ensure successful day-to-day operations of the business as well as significantly grow the business. The VP will be responsible to lead the execution of the business plan and new business strategy for their diagnostic division and will identify emerging gaps or opportunities in the marketplace, direct and oversee the sales force, including hiring, training, and motivating sales staff.


  • The VP will collaborate with the CEO in setting and driving the strategic plan, vision, operational strategy, growth plans, business development, and organizational hiring needs
  • Work with the CEO, CFO, CTO, and department heads, develop the organization’s annual budget
  • Update and continuously modify the company business plan accordingly
  • Translate strategy into actionable goals for performance and growth while taking into consideration their financial impact on the business
  • Helping to implement organization-wide objective setting, performance management, and annual operating planning 
  • Design and implement internal and external environmental scans and advise the CEO on opportunities, challenges & threats to the business (SWOT) 
  • Design and implement reporting and ongoing measuring methods to determine the status, progress, and results of the yearly operational plan
  • Ensure the alignment and establishment of human resource and IT systems
  • Provide strong day-to-day leadership, raise the bar about quality standards, and manage in a consultative approach that fosters professional growth in others with a willingness to “roll up the sleeves” to get large and small tasks done
  • Oversee company operations and employee productivity, building a highly inclusive culture ensuring team members thrive and organizational outcomes are achieved and exceeded
  • Monitor performance with tracking of KPIs and establishing corrective measures as needed, and preparing detailed reports, both current, and forecasting
  • Maintain and build trusted relationships with key customers, clients, partners, employees, and stakeholders
  • Understand the organization’s strategic direction and ability to translate the direction into concrete actions
  • Effectively build and manage organization and staff capacity, developing a highly functioning and cohesive workforce
  • Establish the processes that ensure the organization runs smoothly and ensure they are consistently and fairly implemented to foster loyalty among employees to minimize turnover
  • Demonstrate a strong capacity for managing and leading people; a team builder who has experience in scaling up organizations; ability to connect staff both on an individual level and in groups
  • Develop and empower staff to be confident decision-makers and to be accountable for results and for their actions and behaviors
  • Senior-level management and broad experience with the full range of organizational functions and systems, including strategic development and planning, budgeting, business analysis, finance, information systems, human resources, and marketing


  • The VP should have 10+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation.  
  • Experience in a public company would be an asset
  • Ideally, but not necessarily, experience within laboratory diagnostics, pharmaceutical, clinic, or other healthcare-related companies
  • The ideal candidate will have a master's degree in engineering or business administration
