Join a top employer and advance your career! Our mining client, a leader in their field, has partnered with David Aplin Group to hire a Senior Project Manager experienced with Real-Time & Scada systems, development, and deployment of industrial applications, cyber security, and architecture. 

This opportunity will predominately execute projects in South America and requires the successful candidate to be fluent in English & Spanish. It is a hybrid, 12-month contract, available to candidates in Vancouver, Calgary, and Toronto.

  • Ensuring all projects have been properly authorized for execution at each stage of the lifecycle including Architectural and Security reviews and approval
  • Ensuring that all relevant documents and artifacts are stored in the appropriate project folders
  • (SharePoint) as per the PMO framework requirements and are readily available for scrutiny by the PMO, management, and Internal Audit
  • Conducting ad-hoc project audits to confirm they are on track with documentation, budget, schedule, and scope to mitigate potential risks to compliance or project success  
  • Verifying project process compliance for Corporate Applications SOX and related audits.
  • Ensuring that a Project Lifecycle (from Initiation to Closure) is executed based on the current PMO policies and framework as defined on the PMO website  
  • Managing the projects from initiation to closure with a committed goal of delivering on time, on budget, scope complete with a high level of quality and business satisfaction  
  • Overseeing and managing the team members working on the project
  • Working with Operations and Departmental Managers to request and obtain required resources to meet deliverables  
  • Managing all funds spent on the project, this includes maintaining a detailed current view of the budget, actuals, and forecast numbers  
  • Developing and executing required Test Plans to ensure high-quality deliverables
  • Providing transparency into project health through published schedules, regular status reporting, and current budget and forecasts
  • Managing and documenting any scope changes impacting schedule, budget, or quality
  • Monitoring project team timesheet reporting to ensure proper project accounting   
  • Acting as a mediator between project stakeholders and the project team
  • Identifying, resolving, and escalating any issues and risks as required   
  • Coordinating technical work at Site with local IT resources
  • Clustering upgrades and repairs into small projects
  • Project Proposals, Projects Charters, Project Estimates, Project Boards, and Metrics
  • Gantt Charts, Milestones, Governance, Risk Registers, Cost Reports, Backlog lists
  • Business Cases, Investment or Funding proposals (Appropriation Requests)
  • Deployment Plans, Test Plans, Closeout reports, Lessons learned
  • Stage-Gate documentation and other project artifacts
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in a technical discipline
  • PMP/Prince2 certification (preferred)
  • Agile Certified Practitioner, Certified Scrum Master (preferred)
  • 7+ years’ experience managing IT projects in a large complex corporate environment
  • Experience developing and implementing mining-related systems (mine planning, production statistics, integrated operations, metallurgical accounting, etc.)
  • Fluent in Spanish and English
  • Familiar with Operations business processes, e.g., HAZOPS
  • Familiar with Industrial Capital Projects
  • Experienced in working with geographically dispersed stakeholders and development teams, in offices or the field.
  • Aware of Cyber Security principles for industrial purposes
  • Skilled in Agile
  • Familiar with Microsoft 365 toolset, Teams, Project Online, Azure DevOps (or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with Mining or other Natural Resource business is desirable
  • Fully productive as a remote worker (and have appropriate connectivity – equipment will be provided)
  • Able to work 5 days a week during Chilean working hours (i.e., from 4:00 AM PST to 12:00 PM PST during (Canada's winter months); 6:00 am PST to 2:00 pm PST during (Canada's summer)
  • Occasional travel to the region and the sites (subject to Covid work/travel restrictions)
