David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to seek a Scrum Master who will be responsible to lead one or multiple digital transformation initiatives. This is a 2-year contract opportunity, available to candidates in the Greater Toronto Area.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Define/align project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders
  • Utilize Agile/Scrum values, principles, and practices to plan, manage, and deliver initiatives
  • Create and manage communication per Agile principles (cadences, visualization, and reporting)
  • Assist and support the Product Owner (PO) in effectively managing and maintaining the product backlog (PBL)Provide information radiator for teams and management visualization to regularly report on progress
  • Identify risks and issues and establish processes and mitigating strategies for managing issues and risks across projects, including escalation processes
  • Regular update technology and business stakeholders on the progress and status of the initiative
  • Continuously communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and precise manner
  • Manage communication and expectations of stakeholders, vendors, consultants, procurement, and staff resources
  • Facilitate/lead Agile/SCRUM ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives) Support and facilitate PBL refinement and team coaching and building towards adopting agile
  • Leverage Agile information gathered to present to various stakeholders and enable the decision-making processes
  • Help the team to be open, transparent, and disciplined in managing product backlog items, Sprint backlog work items, tasks, issues, risks, and action items
  • Tracking project roadmap, feature-milestone forecasting, monitoring delivery progress utilizing Jira/Azure tools; preparing and presenting reports to stakeholders
  • Removing impediments to the Team’s progress and coaching them as required to further adoption and self-organization
  • Coordinate the conversion of User stories into sprints and story points and ensure the development of the matching Test Case
  • Plan and schedule sprints, burndown charts, and burnup charts to show deliverables achieved
  • Help the team apply the definition of done to ensure the delivery of high-quality product increments each sprint and release cycle
  • Ensure quality of deliverables at the end of each sprint. Lead Retrospective, collect and present important observations
  • Ability to manage projects traditionally identifying deliverables, milestones, activities, and tasks, timelines, and establish resource allocation using appropriate tools
  • Track project progress against milestones and deliverables. Maintain and present project financials
  • Work with the IS Project Management Office to ensure an in-depth understanding of our project sequencing, project schedule, sprint schedule, and expectations
  • Ensure that all Information Services standards are maintained, and the identified artifacts per the required lifecycle are used
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical paths
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential blockers, and devise contingency plans
  • Coach, a mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
Qualifications:
  • University degree in Computer Science, Business or Engineering, or a combination of related disciplines and experience
  • Ten plus years of related project management experience
  • Five plus years running projects in Agile/SCRUM
  • Certified Scrum Master, PMP, or equivalent
  • Knowledge and experience with the entire software development lifecycle and business analysis methodologies
  • Excellent project management, planning, and organization skills
  • Ability to work in Agile, Hybrid, and Waterfall in the context of large IT projects
  • Excellent written, oral communication, and presentation skills
  • Excellent leadership, critical thinking, analytical, and decision-making capabilities
  • Ability to multi-task, set priorities, coordinate, and schedule
  • Skilled negotiator and communicator to develop consensus and constructively manage conflicts
  • Experience working with JIRA and Azure Dev-Ops
  • Extensive knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Office, Visio, and Project
  • Familiarity with API First design principles and Test-Driven Development
  • Ability to work with complex, diverse project environments with multiple changing priorities and demands, and articulate and lead the development of a project management plan through challenging initiatives
