David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit for a Payroll Administrator based in Saskatoon.

Reporting to the Controller, the Payroll Administrator will be responsible for preparing and processing Bi-Weekly payroll for hourly employees. Under the guidance of the Controller, tasks may include, but are not limited to, the following areas of responsibility:

Payroll:

  • Create new employee packages containing all necessary forms
  • Enter new employees into ADP and payroll tracking spreadsheet
  • Issue FOBs for new employees
  • Track and enter vacation days for plant employees
  • Run payroll every two weeks which includes the following;
  • Run numerous payroll reports
  • Review roll call sheets against ADP 
  • Send payroll file electronically in ADP
  • Enter boot/vision payments 
  • Enter staff sale deductions
  • Update short term disability amounts as needed
  • Create ROEs as needed
  • File payroll documents either into the payroll binder for each period or into the employee files
  • Calculate and enter wage increases
  •  Answer employee questions related to payroll/benefits

Benefits:

  • Enter Sunlife benefit information for new employees
  • Enter wage increases into Sunlife
  • Compile benefit packages
  • Enroll employees for RRSP program
  • Submit RRSP contributions on a bi-weekly basis

Accounting:

  • Prepare payroll and benefit related journal entries employees
  • Complete and analyze monthly payroll reconciliations

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in payroll, or professional accounting designation
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office; particularly Excel
  • Understanding of and/or experience with the Manufacturing/Distribution Industry also considered an asset
  • Effective written and oral communication skills 
  • Strong ability to multitask, set and achieve priorities, and meet deadlines 
  • Well organized, high level of accuracy and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work well with people and contribute to a team environment 
  • Display a keen sense of initiative, direction, and responsibility
