Provide strategic direction to a growing team that is applying cutting-edge technology to continually improve the sustainability of mining, fish, and fish habitats!
Reporting to the Director, Water Strategy, the Manager, Fish is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and management of regional fish habitat management programs, and the restoration/offsetting, and permitting planning for operations in the Coal Business Unit.

Responsibilities:
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Direct the portfolio of fisheries programs, including administrative, strategic, governance, and technical requirements and initiatives
- Set strategy for the development of federal regulatory approvals, including engagement activities, schedules, scope, and quality in accordance with Fisheries and Oceans Canada requirements
- Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of professionals, ensuring progressive development plans are in place
- Drive positive relationships with federal and provincial regulators, local First Nations and communities, and operations
- Understand, interpret, and provide strategic direction on existing and emerging federal and provincial issues and regulations related to fisheries
- Develop, implement, and manage budgets on an annual basis and provide senior input and strategic advice on large project budget decisions and allocations
Qualifications:
- Degree in Science of Engineering in an environmental-related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum ten years of experience in fisheries management leadership roles
- Expert-level knowledge and strategic planning experience in fish and fish habitat management and large project framework development
- Solid understanding of provincial and federal regulatory approvals practices, legislation, and regulations relating to fish, fish habitat, and aquatic resources, especially within British Columbia
