David Aplin Group has partnered with our client to seek a Licensing & Contracts Specialist to be responsible for contract negotiations and contract management associated with IT contracts. This is a permanent opportunity, available to candidates in Calgary and Edmonton.
  • Contract Negotiations & Management
  • Lead contract strategy development and negotiations for IT contracts under $1M in Total contract value
  • Interpret contracts to identify key business risks, develop mitigations, and communicate recommendations to senior management
  • Negotiate and administer contract amendments and correspondence
  • Manage contract disputes and escalations
  • Maintain a centralized repository of all contract documentation
  • Advise the organization on contract legal rights, risks, and strategies for mitigation
  • Liaise with legal counsel for input on the negotiation of new contracts
  • Software License Management
  • Develop and administer software license tracking processes
  • Lead software vendor audits and vendor dispute resolution
  • Oversee IT Services Agreement Service Provider to monitor software contract compliance Service provider processes
  • Advise the organization on software rights and obligations
  • Ensure the accuracy and auditability of all license transactions
  • Contract Reporting
  • Develop forecasting future license usage, true-up costs, and service charges
  • Analyze vendor spend data
  • Track financial benefits
  • Prepare standard and ad hoc reports and memos for internal clients and senior executives
  • Acquire and analyze data related to the resolution of contract and financial disputes
  • Develop contract-related business cases including commercial and financial strategies, risk implications, and comprehensiveness in accordance with company guidelines
  • Business degree with specific education in the areas of Commerce, Business/Contract law, Accounting, or related fields
  • Minimum 7-10 years of supply chain/procurement/contract experience
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience within a technology-oriented organization with a complex infrastructure
  • Experience in outsourced IT environments, whether as a client or an external Service Provider
  • Experience working and a multi-national, matrix organization
  • Proven contract negotiation skills
  • Ability to develop strategic vendor relationships
  • Highly organized with the ability to adapt to multiple priorities
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Familiarity with Information Technology concepts and structures
  • Strong communications skills (oral & written), interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Capability to understand changes and issues required to make correct commercial decisions
  • Proficiency with Word, Adobe, Excel, and SharePoint is essential
  • SCMP (Supply Chain Management Professional) designation or similar would be an asset
