If you are a talented and experienced Catering Events Coordinator, David Aplin Group has the right opportunity for you! Our Edmonton-based client, a Catering organization hiring a Catering Events Coordinator to procure and manage catered events for the company.
Following company guidelines and procedures, the ideal candidate will handle all aspects of the event to meet clients’ needs and maximize revenue.
  • Responding promptly to all inquiries
  • Ensuring accurate communication with all departments to ensure all planning aspects are met
  • Maintaining client history in the database
  • Following departmental policies and procedures
  • Managing and supervising banquet staff at events
  • Training new banquet staff
  • General office responsibilities: answer incoming calls, accept orders, and quote requests
  • Drafting an accurate and creative proposal for the client and communicating with them to ensure it meets their needs
  • Revising the proposal if required according to the client’s needs, and then secure the event with a final contract
  • Planning/organizing all aspects of the event to prepare your staff to complete your vision
  • Visiting the event (when required) to ensure complete success
  • Assisting with driving lunch deliveries during peak seasons as needed
  • Ensuring staff is properly trained in all areas using the Training Manual
  • Planning and conducting seasonal in-services to refresh staff knowledge
  • Developing key people to act as supervisors
  • Ensuring on-site staff adheres to procedures like loading, unloading, driving, parking, setting up and running jobs
  • Education in a Hospitality program would be an asset
  • Must have 3+ years of Event Management or Catering events related experience
  • Must be confident in event processes and able to supervise other staff. Experience in a previous supervisory role is an asset
  • Must have strong communication and organizational skills
  • Must be an intermediate to advanced user of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must be able to handle a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
  • Must have availability for some evening and weekend work
  • Previous managerial hospitality experience would be an asset
  • Previous sales and negotiation experience would be an asset
